Our Associate Attorney will specialize in handling legal matters related to family law, such as divorce, child custody, adoption, spousal support, domestic violence, and other issues involving family relationships. 

The primary duties of the Family Law Associate Attorney include:

Five-Star Experience: Interacting with clients on the phone and in person with 5-star customer service. Communicating and working with our core values of integrity, quality, and respect in mind.

Case Management: Associates assist senior attorneys in managing client cases. This includes organizing and maintaining case files, reviewing documents and evidence, preparing deposition summaries, assisting in trial preparation, scheduling court dates, managing deadlines, and coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, and other relevant parties.  Help in developing case strategies and identifying potential legal issues.

Court Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings related to family law matters. This may involve presenting arguments, cross-examining witnesses, negotiating settlements, and advocating for the best interests of their clients. Attending mediation or settlement conferences to facilitate the resolution of disputes outside of court.

Legal Document Preparation: Responsible for drafting and reviewing various legal documents related to family law cases. This includes divorce petitions, child custody agreements, prenuptial agreements, adoption paperwork, and other related documents. Must ensure accuracy, compliance with legal requirements, and the firm's standards while protecting the interests of our clients.

Client Communication: Communicate regularly with clients to provide case updates, answer their legal questions, and address their concerns. Maintain a professional and empathetic approach, as family law cases often involve emotional and sensitive matters. Interact with clients to gather information, maintain regular communication, and build professional relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are addressed effectively.

Collaborative Approach: Collaborate with other professionals, such as mediators, therapists, forensic accountants, and social workers, to provide comprehensive support to clients and address their specific needs. Engage in negotiation and settlement discussions with opposing parties or their attorneys to reach agreements that serve the best interests of their clients. Advise clients on potential settlement options, negotiate terms, and prepare settlement agreements.

Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct legal research on various issues related to client cases. Review statutes, regulations, legal precedents, and other legal resources to support their analysis and provide recommendations to senior attorneys.

Legal Analysis and Opinion: Ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify potential risks, and provide legal opinions to clients and senior attorneys. Must possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess the strengths and weaknesses of legal arguments.

Professional Development: Law office associates continually develop their legal skills and knowledge through ongoing professional education and training. Stay updated with changes in laws and regulations, attend legal seminars, and participate in firm-sponsored learning activities. Contribute to the growth and success of the law firm by participating in business development activities, networking events, and assisting with marketing efforts to attract new clients.

Qualifications required:
•    Juris Doctor (JD) Degree
•    Oklahoma Bar Admission
•    Career emphasis on family law
•    Strong verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Strong client management skills, including the ability to listen empathetically, provide support and guidance, and manage clients' expectations throughout the legal process.
•    Associates should have strong negotiation and mediation skills to help clients reach fair and favorable resolutions outside of court. 
•    Possess excellent organizational and time management skills to handle deadlines, prioritize tasks, and effectively manage their caseloads.
•    At least 2 years Microsoft Office 365 experience, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneDrive. 
•    Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. 
•    Must have a valid driver license and a dedicated, insured, reliable automobile available daily.
•    Must be able to be both self-directed and work as a team when needed.
•    Must be able to work office hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
•    Must be able to sit for long hours.
•    Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
•    At least one year working in a law practice environment is required. 
•    Family Law education emphasis
•    Active member of Family law Section of TCBA
•    Volunteer for Oklahoma Early Settlement Mediation Program
•    Experience with Smokeball, Client Credit, LexisNexis, and Zoom.
•    U.S. military veteran status. 
•    Fluency in Spanish
